Important information about the study
Study Title: AI-Driven Analysis of Menstrual Blood: Diagnosing Endometriosis through Image Processing
Purpose of the Study: This study collects images of menstrual blood and correlates them with health data, particularly the diagnosis of endometriosis. You do not need to be diagnosed with endometriosis to participate, as we are comparing images from individuals with and without the endometriosis. We aim to train artificial intelligence to provide an initial risk assessment for endometriosis based solely on an image of your menstrual blood. This is not intended to replace a medical examination but to help make the diagnostic process faster and more accessible. The survey is open to menstruating individuals.
Procedure: You can collect the photos for the first part during your next period and upload them afterwards. Answering the questions in the second part will take approximately 15 minutes.
Possible Risks and Benefits: Since this survey collects sensitive data, there is a risk to confidentiality. However, this risk is minimised as participation is completely anonymous. By taking part in this study, you will contribute to the development of non-invasive diagnostic alternatives for endometriosis. Additionally, your participation will help promote the discussion of menstruation in medical research.
Voluntary Participation: Your participation in this study is voluntary and you may choose not to participate or end your participation at any time without penalty. During the survey you will be asked to upload 6 pictures of your menstrual blood. A description of how you can do this is given in the survey. If you wish to answer the survey without uploading the pictures, you will have the option to skip to the next part.
Ethical considerations: This study follows the ethical principles set out in the Declaration of Helsinki. As a participant, you have the opportunity to share your priorities and values regarding this research. You may also be involved in research design, implementation, and result dissemination. Note: In this study, we use the term "women" but include all menstruating individuals regardless of gender identity.
